Black Friday is indeed black
One thing I always have looked forward to during the year is the end- of-the-year shopping season. Shopping is one of my most favorite ways to spend time, and normally makes me feel really happy. Lately though, shopping has lost its charm for me. I was sure that, with all of the usual commotion surrounding Black Friday, I would be enticed into the frenzy and driven to spend, spend, spend. But no. Sadly, I was neither enticed nor driven by any of the “sales” that I observed taking place this year on Black Friday. Nor did Cyber Monday make up for the Black Friday misery. Is it just me? I wondered briefly if my lack of employment — translated as, lack of income — was putting a damper on my favorite hobby. But I’ve come to realize, it’s not only I that feel this way. Countless would-be shoppers are simply unenthused. Blame the economy? I blame the cheap marketing tactics relied on by merchants this year. Where are all the great deals??? I’m still holding out, and am cautiously optimistic.
